“My husband and I love holiday inns and stay at them all the time so we're spire elite members. This particular holiday Inn was beautiful, clean, and staffed with friendly people. When we checked in I noticed a smell of smoke in our room that was faint but nevertheless present. I went to the front desk and spoke with Michael about it, saying that we didn't mind staying in the room but I wanted it noted on our file so we weren't blamed for the smell. They were incredibly busy so I understand how he could have forgotten to note it, but regardless, we were charged 150 dollars for a cleaning fee. When I called to correct the issue, the phone call took over 45 minutes and I was on hold for 98% of that time. The manager was polite but informed me that unless Michael remembers our conversation (almost a month ago), then there's nothing she can do. I'm waiting on hearing back from them but this is honestly a pain to deal with. I guess in the future I have to demand another room rather than being complacent about the smokey one, but the manager even said that they're booked up most weekend nights. I'm not sure how I should handle this if it happens in the future. Overall, a super unpleasant experience.”
